On A Mission Homelessness Outreach
The OAM ministry was created with the expressed intent to serve our brothers and sisters in the Beloved Community who maybe experiencing a transition, perhaps due to a housing, relationship, or health crisis, or another situation which allows an opportunity for the Beloved Community to demonstrate love one for another.
Mission – To dispel the darkness by taking the Word to the World.
Vision - A world filled with light, with the Beloved Community at its center.
There are numerous agencies, non-profits and faith organizations working to support self – sufficiency and sustainability among those who are transient in the metroplex area. OAM Homelessness Outreach uses a more involved community approach. OAM volunteers are trained to think and serve from a spiritual and practical approach. Each volunteer and participant is first and foremost a co-laborer with Christ for we are God’s coworkers. You are God’s field; God’s building (1Cor 3:9).
In OAM the term Victory in Progress of Souls (VIPs) is used to describe the transient community. The ministry efforts support the growth of transient attendees and its volunteers, consistently treats them like Very Important People by attending Sunday service together, offering meals, and hair grooming services, a clothes closet, and hosting Easter and Thanksgiving luncheons for transient VIPs.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, OAM serves each week directly in the areas where VIPs most often reside. Partnering with Cornerstone Community Development, our volunteers provide weekly meals, toiletries, masks, and other services.
